Steinhagen is a municipality in the district of Gütersloh in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located on the south slope of the Teutoburg Forest, approx. 10 km west of Bielefeld and 15 km north og Gütersloh. The village is well known for producing Schnaps made from juniper berries which are distilled three times. The Schnaps is called Steinhäger or Schinkenhäger and can be clear or dark when unfiltered. Steinhagen is home to many Arminia Bielefeld players including Sibusiso Zuma and former player Detlev Dammeier. Arminia Bielefeld is a German Bundesliga team that has been in the 1st division for a few years. In Steinhagen there is a pond fed by an underground spring or "Quelle". Local People use it as a beach. North of Steinhagen is a Television tower that provides Television service to the Greater Bielefeld Area.
